NAILING THE ART OF PRODUCT DEMONSTRATION
We recently held an incredible demo night at Shack15 in San Francisco, partnering with the GenAI Collective.
More than 250 people came out to see an intense competition, with over 100 applicants vying for a chance to showcase their innovations.
Attendees participated by voting for three notable awards: Coval took home the title for Best Overall Performance, BAML was recognized for Best Technology, and CommonAR won for Most Creative Concept.
After the event, we caught up with the founders of these outstanding businesses to share their tips for delivering an impressive product demo.
Tell us about your product.
- Coval: Our platform offers a full-fledged solution to simulate, assess, and monitor both voice and chat agents.
This helps businesses implement top-tier agents more swiftly by conducting thousands of mock interactions and tracking their performance in real time.
- BAML: We have created BAML: a revolutionary programming language tailored to make integrating large language models easier for developers.
It simplifies the process of building dependable AI applications.
- CommonAR: Our mission at CommonAR is to enhance in-person networking through augmented reality (AR) tools.
We offer an AR mobile app that uses facial recognition to identify nearby individuals.
What’s the secret to your demo presentation strategy?
- Coval: We aim to provide authentic insights that connect with potential customers.
Rather than relying on scripts, we focus on articulating the true value of our product.
- BAML: Making a strong first impression is crucial.
I strive to engage the audience with relatable content while highlighting elements that genuinely attract users.
- CommonAR: I kick things off with an engaging opening, allowing the product itself to showcase its value, which minimizes the need for scripted explanations.
Do you have a go-to favorite demo from the past?
- Coval: The product demonstrations by Steve Jobs are legendary and remain a gold standard for all.
- BAML: Gary Bernhardt’s impactful ‘WAT’ presentation transformed my view on how demos should be executed.
- CommonAR: Steve Jobs’s iconic reveal of the iPhone is timeless, and I was also deeply impressed by Eric Glyman’s introduction of Ramp travel.
By learning from the experiences of these successful companies, you can elevate your own product demonstrations and leave a lasting impression on your audience.
